Sunday

Sunday, April 11

Today started grey, gloomy, overcast, rainy, and late. We both slept through the alarm! We headed out about an hour late. Rain followed us along most of the 101. There were breaks in the weather, enough to get some nice pictures of the ocean! The weather broke as we headed inland towards our destination, Sequim.

Our destination was Olympic Game Farm. We were meeting Chris' sister, husband and kids. Chris' favorite restaurant was Hal's when he was growing up and she was supposed to bring him some. Their tarter sauce is heaven! We arrived and met up with her. Unfortunately, Chris' dreams were dashed .... she had forgotten the Hals at home. She lives in Sedro Wooley, which is no where on our route since we are leaving for Canada tomorrow, so going to her house to get it ... out of the question. Guess Chris will have to get his Hals fix next year. Sorry about that.

We have been to Olympic Game Farm before, so we knew what to expect. There is a walking tour, where you can get closer to some of the animals, and a driving tour, where you can cruise around the property and feed the various animals bread you can buy at the gate. Unfortunately, the walking tour wasnt open yet, so we drove through. The Game Farm includes such animals as prairie dogs, zebras, llamas, seagulls, peacocks, a rhino, yaks, bears, wolves, lions, tigers, coyotes, bobcats, cougars, bison, fallow deer, and elk. In one side, the yaks and llamas roam free. They have learned the trick of blocking your car to get fed bread! The bears will pose for bread! On the other side, bison, deer, and elk roam free. They have also learned the trick of blocking your car to get fed bread! All animals will come up to your car and stick their head inside if your window is down, looking for a free hand out! Slobber will definately be left on your windows! His sisters kids had not been to the Game Farm before so they enjoyed the entire trip.

After the Game Farm, we went for lunch. After lunch, we went to see "Date Night", while his sisters family split up and some saw "Alice in Wonderland" and others "Date Night" with us. It is a fabulously hysterical movie! I havent laughed that hard at a movie in a long time! Definately a must see. After the movie, his sister headed out, only to find out the ferry she needed to take was sold out for the last sailing! She had to go further east to catch a different one. Hopefully she doesnt get home too late tonight!

Chris and I headed to find a hotel. Found one with a nice view of the harbor. Pretty nice room. Watched the Mariners loose (shaping up to be a pretty bad year so far) and will call it an early night. Leaving the windows closed tonight as Chris is kind of feeling a sore throat coming on. I hope not! Bed pretty early, we have to get up at 530am to catch the ferry tomorrow!

Rain this morning, but it turned out to be a beautiful day!
